The old Church was replaced by this one. This building cost £7,519 and was designed in Romanesque style by Mr. Byrne the architect. Fr. Flanagan bought the site at Dangan for £45 in 1910. Lord Langford donated the stone free of charge. Dr. Gaughran laid the foundation stone on 8th October 1911. Three years later, Dr. Gaughran dedicated the Church to Our Lady of Lourdes.
The stone donated by Lord Langford to build the Church was taken from Langford's quarry. Several years after the church was completed it was discovered that the stone was not suitable to withstand the pressure exerted upon it. The stone being of slate form, began to shatter and had to be replaced in the 1950's. The reconstruction work was completed in 1962. Electricity was installed in 1954 and oil heating in 1959.
